Proven gravity sedimentation for continuous solid-liquid separation in STP and ETP plants
The Rectangular Clarifier is a high-efficiency sedimentation tank designed to separate suspended solids from wastewater or treated effluent through gravity settling. Incoming wastewater enters at one end, flows at a controlled velocity through the tank, allowing solids to settle to the floor. A mechanical chain-and-flight or bridge-mounted scraper continuously moves settled sludge to a collection hopper, while a surface skimmer removes floating scum and grease. Clarified effluent overflows a weir at the far end for further treatment or discharge.

How It Works

Wastewater enters through a distribution inlet designed to minimize turbulence and promote uniform flow. Suspended solids settle progressively as water moves toward the outlet weir. The floor scraper mechanism — driven by a low-speed geared motor — continuously pushes settled sludge toward the sludge hopper. Surface scum is collected by a skimmer blade and removed separately. Clarified water exits over an adjustable effluent weir.

Technical Specifications
  • Tank geometry: Rectangular, custom dimensions
  • Sludge collection: Chain-and-flight mechanism or bridge scraper
  • Scraper drive: Low-speed geared motor (typically 0.37 kW – 0.75 kW)
  • Surface skimmer: Mechanical scum blade with collection trough
  • Inlet: Energy-dissipating baffle for uniform distribution
  • Outlet: Adjustable effluent weir with collection launder
  • Material: MS with epoxy coating or SS construction
  • Surface loading rate: Designed to project specifications
Key Benefits
  • Efficient suspended solids removal — improves downstream treatment quality
  • Continuous sludge removal prevents sludge re-suspension
  • Surface skimmer captures floating oils and grease
  • Adjustable weir allows fine-tuning of effluent quality
  • Customizable size — designed to match plant flow and load
  • Low energy consumption — scraper drives are low-speed, low-power

Applications
  • Primary clarification in municipal STP
  • econdary clarification after biological treatment
  • Industrial effluent treatment plants (ETP)
  • Water purification and pre-treatment facilities
  • Food processing and dairy effluent plants
