Trash Rakes

Heavy-duty mechanical raking for large debris removal from open channels
Trash Rakes are robust mechanical systems designed to remove large floating and settled debris — including plastics, logs, vegetation, and accumulated solids — from open channels, weirs, and pump sumps. Available in motorized and manual configurations, they provide a practical, low-cost solution for coarse screening at intake structures and drainage facilities where periodic or continuous cleaning is required.

How It Works

The rake assembly, mounted on a carriage or pivoting arm, is lowered into the channel and dragged across the screen or channel floor. Debris is captured in the tine rake and lifted clear of the water surface, then deposited to a side chute or collection platform. Motorized versions operate on a timed or manual cycle; manual versions are operated by plant staff.

Technical Specifications
  • Drive: Motorized gearmotor or manual operation

  • Mounting: Overhead bridge, wall-mounted, or portable
Key Benefits
  • Handles very large, bulky debris that automated screens cannot
  • Simple, rugged design — minimal maintenance requirements
  • Available as manual (low cost) or motorized (automated) versions
  • Can be retrofitted to existing intake structures easily
  • Cost-effective solution for seasonal or occasional heavy debris

Applications
  • Open drainage channels and stormwater systems
  • Irrigation pumping station screens
